The release explains that the Gartner ‘Managed M2M Services, Worldwide’ Magic Quadrant evaluates the global market for M2M services, and focuses on providers that bundle connectivity and related value-added services, such as consulting, M2M device engineering, M2M application development and integration, related middleware aggregation, software hosting and related systems management.

The networking technology provider claims that it has more than 24.3 million enabled devices currently delivered on five continents, offering end-to-end networking services on demand for the “Internet of Important Things” through its public cloud IPv6 networking and data platform, Starfish, including service-level agreements (SLAs) specifying business requirements, applications, or performance, reliability and security obligations.

The California-based company is ramping up deployments of Starfish in major metropolitan areas including Bristol, Chicago, Copenhagen, Glasgow, London, San Antonio, San Jose, Stockholm, and in Kolkata, India.

Mike Bell, president and CEO, Silver Spring Networks, said: “We’re thrilled to receive recognition from the analyst community for our industry leading, standards-based technology and believe it affirms Silver Spring’s mission to enable customers to extract the full value of the data exchanged over our highly secure and reliable network for the Internet of Important Things.

“With continued deployments of our flagship private cloud offerings and Starfish, our public cloud IoT network and data platform, in major markets across the globe, we believe that we are changing the IoT landscape by connecting applications that matter, while further enhancing our managed M2M services industry position.”

Silver Spring in the US

Earlier this month, Entergy Corporation selected Silver Spring Networks to provide two-way meter communications and near-real time telemetry for approximately 2.8 million customers.

The Louisiana-based energy company Entergy Corporation will deploy Silver Spring’s multi-application IPv6-based Gen5 network platform across its 114,000 square mile territory to provide two-way meter communications and near-real time telemetry for approximately 2.8 million customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.

According to a release, the platform will enable the Entergy Operating Companies to offer their customers more insight into and better control over their energy usage and costs, while helping to more quickly identify and restore power after outages and improve overall grid reliability.
