Energy management company Landis+Gyr has last week announced its residential smart meters E330 FOCUS AX and E350 FOCUS AX-SD meters have passed UL 2735 tests.
In a company statement, Landis+Gyr said Underwriter Laboratories certification – UL2735 – confirms the design and testing for safe operation of the company’s advanced residential meters and communication components.
The certified Landis+Gyr electric meters include those with integrated RF communications modules.
The UL 2735 certification is based on UL’s standard for safety for electric utility meters adopted in 2014, which includes requirements for electric shocks, fire, mechanical and RF emissions testing to certify compliance.
The development comes at a time when Landis+Gyr’s enhanced FOCUS AXe and S4x commercial meters are scheduled to complete certification next year.
Landis+Gyr in smart grid solutions development
In September 2015, the energy management solutions provider announced its success in speeding up the processing speed of its meter data management platform.
Landis+Gyr announced its MDMS version 3.3 achieved compatibility with Oracle Exadata Database Machine and Oracle SuperCluster.
The development means utility customers running Landis+Gyr’s Gridstream MDMS on Oracle Exadation Database Machine and Oracle SuperCluster can process 427 million meter readings per hour.
According to Landis+Gyr, processing of the electric meter readings is 1.4x faster than previous tests.
The announcement comes after Landis+Gyr tested its MDMS version on the Oracle applications in a bid to prove its speed and reliability to customers.
Oracle Exadata Optimized and Oracle SuperCluster are part of the Oracle Exastack Optimized program, which recognises partners who have optimized solutions on a complete, integrated and cloud ready infrastructure.
The partner programme, which Landis+Gyr is member of, allows partners to utilize Oracle’s applications and lab facilities to test and further develop applications.
And in May 2015, Landis+Gyr was shortlisted by Philadelphia economic development agency PIDC to supply the US’s Navy Yard smart electric meters, Gridstream communication network, MDM software and cloud based services.
The deal aims to provide an open platform for the addition of smart building technology, integration of renewable energy distribution automation capability and electric vehicle support, reported CNN news.
