The Department of Physics at Auburn University is seeking a qualified individual for a research faculty position in experimental fusion plasma science. Preference is for a junior level candidate (i.e., Assistant Research Professor), but all ranks will be considered. The position is a non-tenure track one-year appointment and is subject to annual renewal based on performance and funding. The successful candidate will be expected to: (1) contribute to research at Wendelstein 7-X at IPP Greifswald, Germany for the duration of employment, (2) contribute to the advancement of the fusion science program at Auburn University both locally and on a national and international level, and (3) provide guidance and mentoring for graduate students and post-doctoral researchers in fusion plasma physics.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline or a doctorate in a related field and post-doctoral research experience is highly desirable. The candidate selected for this position must possess excellent written and interpersonal communication skills and must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time appointment is scheduled to begin (September 2016) and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
