The city of Snowmass in Colorado deployed FATHOM’s smart water solution to improve management of its water distribution network.

According to a press statement, the city’s Water and Sanitation District (SWSD) deployed Fathom’s water distribution system management software for integration with some 1,300 smart water meters developed by Neptune.

The deployment of the solution has helped SWSD improve its customer service by helping consumers reduce water usage and bills.

The project has allowed customers of SWSD to access their water consumption data in real-time and pay their bills online.

Christie Duckett, billing manager of SWSD, said: “With the new platform, our team can view meter data and water usage in many different ways, from an individual account to city trends, and identify consumption trends.”

Fathom claims that its system helps utility companies to easily detect water leakages within their distribution networks.

Trevor Hill, CEO of FATHOM, added: “As we move toward a world of connected devices, like smart water meters …

“Information is the key to success for water utilities and helping customers manage their usage is quickly become an obligation in the water sector.”

Smart water solution adoption

In mid-September, the city of Zephyrhills in Florida selected Fathom water management software solution for improved transparency with access to real time water usage data.

FATHOM’s Smart Grid for Water software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution will also be used to improve online and mobile account management and bill payments.

Through the project, the city’s water utility believes that it will enhance its fiscal stewardship through high revenue assurance metrics, which reduces accounts receivable while improving the level of customer service and customer self-service.

According to a company release, the FATHOM smart water solution sets in motion exacting performance standards, designed to quickly deliver returns and positive cash flow at a reduced cost compared to previous systems.
